      • It is not… A time where everyone immediately applies it to their lives before they study what it originally meant
      • It is not… A time where each person says, “I think this passage means this to me” rather than asking what it meant to the original writer and readers

      • An inductive Bible study is…  A prayerful gathering of several who seek to know what God’s word says
      • An inductive Bible study is… A study of ONE PASSAGE (perhaps a chapter,perhaps a paragraph) only
      • An inductive Bible study is… A study where the different people Try to see what a passage originally meant when the author first wrote it to his original audience
      • An inductive Bible study is… A study where the participants do the thinking rather than letting the Bible study leader do all the thinking
      • An inductive Bible study is… A study which honors the original writer and readers by trying to understand what he meant
  • Who can lead an inductive Bible study?
    • Anyone who loves Jesus and is willing to spend an hour or so in preparation time for each inductive Bible session
      • But some will say, I don’t have a Bible education!
        • That’s okay!  You are not TEACHING them; you are helping them to ask the right questions!  The passage will teach them!
      • But some will say, I don’t know how to teach!
        • We have the same answer for that too!  You don’t teach inductive Bible studies; you help people to think for themselves by asking the right questions and then thinking about what the writer was trying to say.
