Proverbs: All of the Proverbs in the book of Proverbs are written in poetry. Here are some sample questions.
- Are the Proverbs in my paragraph related to each other? Do they have the same Subject? Or are they a completely different subject?
- Can you state in simple language what the point or points of the Proverbs is or are?
- Does the poetry add any information or emotion to the main point you saw?
- Are there any interesting words that make this proverb more helpful?
- Many of the proverbs follow this patter,
- Negative statement (A fool speaks when he does not know what to say)
- Positive statement (A wise man measures his words to make them fit for hearing)
- Or this pattern:

- Keep watching for this approach. If your passage is from Proverbs, ask questions about the contrast or sometimes similarity between the 2 lines.
- Is the Proverb about wisdom? Is it about fearing God? Or is it about something else?
